Caution Before performing the following procedures read the safety instructions in your Owners Manual

Q NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as the back panel) on the computer.

Q NOTICE: To avoid damaging the system board, you must remove the main battery before you begin working inside the computer.

Removing the Modem

1. Follow the instructions in "'Preparing to Work Inside the Computer."

2. Remove the left, right, and center hinge covers.

3. Remove the keyboard.

5. Pull up on the pull-tab to disconnect the modem from the modem connector on the system board.

Q NOTICE: Do not disconnect the modem cable from the system board.

6. Disconnect the modem cable from the modem.

Installing the Modem

1. Connect the modem cable to the modem.

(J) NOTICE: Ensure that the modem cable is routed correctly when you replace the modem.

Q NOTICE: Do not press down on the left side of the modem while installing it.

2. Align the connector on the bottom of the modem with the modem connector on the system board and then press down on the right side of the modem to seat both connectors.
